Suprise...SNOW STORM !!!!

Wet snow sticking to the trees
What a messy couple of days. Rain Wednesday, Thursday and part of Friday, then snow. The snow is heavy. You know, the stuff that when you try to push it with a shovel you get about 2 feet and it weighs about 100 pounds!. Then you try to blow it and there is so much moisture in it that every 15 feet you have to unclog the blower. Now, I'm not complaining, it was just a very interesting day.
Friday morning at 1am I could see my entire lawn....by 4 am there was 10 cm's of snow on it. By 10 am there was close to 20cm's (8 inches). Buses were canceled, roads were closing, and it was just messy out. The kids love it. They get to make snow men, forts, and have snowball fights. And truthfully, probably by the end of next week, it'll all be gone. Each day the sunlight lasts longer, the temperature keeps rising just by a degree each day and those southern storms are starting to roll through.
Yep, spring is on our door. Enjoy the snow friends :)

Trust in your father

My youngest son is just a little over a year and a half. I love watching him walk around. Each day, he walks better. He's trying to run now...trying.  One thing that I love is taking him for a walk. I lower my hand, he grabs a couple of my fingers and a way we go. As we walk, he looks up at me, smiling. He knows that he is secure. He knows that if he stumbles, I won't let him fall. He has confidence in me.
I can imaging that king David had a similar experience. Walking with his children, directing their path. The reason that I say this is because as I read Psalm 37, that is the imagery that pops out at me. A father walking with his child. Carefully watching, carefully directing, carefully protecting.  Now lets take it one step further - Our Heavenly father looks at us as His children. he delights as we trust Him. He is concerned about out lives. He is there for us. Psalm 37:23-24 says "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.  Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand."
Today, reach out to Him. Grasp His hand. Trust in His leading. :)

The Whirlpool of Life - What can I do?

Have you ever watched a whirlpool? When on the outside of it, it takes a long time to make a complete revolution. The closer you come to the middle, the fast things rotate. The force increases, it gets harder to escape. I think that life is like a lot like that. Troubles can happen when you are on the outside of the whirlpool, but they are few and far between. They don't really bother you. Then they become more frequent, more sudden, more unexpected. The whirlpool tightens. As it tightens, you have to act quicker, you have to be stronger, you have to have to come up with a plan. Sometimes it takes that spinning, faster and faster, before you are forced to cry out for help. Just look around us today. Gas is up 18% in a couple weeks, food is going up 5-10% in the next few months, the housing market is close to being on another bubble, HST has added more tax on virtually everything, hydro prices continue to climb (another 45% in the next 5 years). Emergency - I don't think so. You want an emergency, here is one....30,000 Children are going to starve to death today.
My plan for battling this: Commit everything you do to the Lord.Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5
You notice that it says Commit everything that you "DO"... There are always options -  downsize the house, sell one of the vehicles, de-clutter,... help my brothers and sisters instead of just talking about it.
We'll see - Like I said - I'm committing everything, trust Him and I know he'll help :)

Prayer request for a couple babies...

Yesterday as I was visiting the nursing home, we got a serious prayer request.  I don't know names, but here is the request. There is a pair of twins that were born with a low birth weight. They were in ICU for a few weeks. They were released and allowed to go home. When they got home, they got pneumonia. Both twins were re-admitted to hospital. As the twins were in the hospital, it has been discovered that they both have no hearing. These babies have had a rough start to life. The parents are having are hard time with this. I promised the dear saint that I would pray, and I will continue to. But I also told her that I would ask friends to also pray. So this is my prayer request for today. For the family and for the parents of these twins. That God would touch their little ears, open them up, and comfort the parents. Thanks for your prayers also :)

Yesterday proud of my son, today my daughter :)

A few deer running

Today was a good day for me. I had the pleasure of having my daughter help me in providing ministry to people in the nursing home. We had a wonderful piano player (Thanks Darlene) and Eden and I sang. We then did the Bible lesson. Eden read from Psalm 91 in 3 sections. She would read, then I would tell a story that correlated to what she just read. All the seniors thanked her. And the great part about it is that she asked if she could go to help me and she did great! Yep, I'm a proud father :)

We then went for a little father/daughter drive. We saw wild turkeys, deer, hawks and swans - very good day!
