A long drive - an investment in my son :)

Lighthouse on Chantry Island - Southampton

Today, my son and I went on a road trip. It was raining - about 45mm in the last 24 hours - and I was a little stir crazy. We decided to go to Hanover (saw turkeys in a field), stopped at Tim Hortons for an ice cap,Walkerton, Paisley, Port Elgin, (Ice covering the beach), Southampton(lighthouse above), stopped at McD's for some fries and a pop, Hepworth, Sauble Beach, Kincardine, Mildmay, Clifford and then back home. We encountered rain, drizzly, fog, snow, sleet, ice pellets and lots of flooded fields. It's colder now, snowing outside, water is freezing up, so it's going to slow the thaw down. It was nice to go for such a long ride with my son. We got to talk a lot. Just listening to how he feels life is treating him. Some people will say, what a waste of time going for a drive - wasting gas. Well I think that it was an investment in my son and not a waste of time or gas. It was fun.

Do I... ?

Do I....
Do I develop grudges against those I disagree with or do I pray for those I disagree with?
Do I lead by example or do I say one thing and do another?
Do I go to church for worship or to worship?
Do I attend church out of habit or do I want to be there?
Do I give out of pressure or do I give because of a willing heart?
Do I help others because it is the right thing to do or do I help because I really care for others?
Do I seek God's will or do I seek my own will?
Do I worry about tomorrow or do I cast all my cares to God?
Do I hold on to past hurts or do I forgive those who have hurt me?
Do I ?

The end of another day, another month...

The end of another day. The end of another month. What did you accomplish this past month? Did you do your best? Did you reach your goals? Did you have goals? All these questions are often asked not for personal growth reasons, but as measurement tools. You need to ask yourself - who is asking these questions and why are they asking them. Me, I choose to look at these measurement tools....
Do I continue to be a good father? Do I continue to be a good husband? Do I continue to show love as a Christian? That about covers it...Summed up like this - “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Luke 10:27
That was my February....March is going to be spectacular !!!

Beginning of March - Lion & the Lamb

Today is March 1st. March coming in as a lamb this year - at least in Southern Ontario. Gentle & Peaceful. As I think about the weather, another lamb-lion comes to mind.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. Isaiah 53:7

“Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. Revelation 5:5a

Two verses - both speaking about the same person - Jesus. Both verses are prophetic. Isaiah`s verse was before Jesus came to earth as a lamb to be sacrificed for our sins. The verse in Revelation is in the future, when Jesus will return not as a lamb but as a triumphant king to rule - The Lion of Judah.

Here is a song by Robin Mark - You`re the Lion of Judah
Have a great day !

The Roads are Icy !!!

The roads are quite icy. My son's bus was cancelled today, so he got to stay home. A good day for some father/son time. We saw a lot of wildlife today for it being so windy. 30 wild turkeys and a pair of Red Tailed hawks. I tried to get them while they were in the tree, but to no avail. As soon as I put the window down - they flew. I did get one not too bad picture of one of the soaring, but the shot I was hoping for was when they were in the tree beside each other.

Back to the roads....they are icy - very icy. So icy in fact that as we were going up one, we failed to make it up the hill. Then I had to back down the hill - the icy hill. Isaac wasn't too happy about going backward down the hill. And to top it off, a farm truck - A farm transport was coming behind us. We made it to the opposite side of the road and let him pass...then we watched. He had the hammer down, going up the hill, but as he reached the peak - he almost stopped. His tires were spinning, and all I could think was - This is not going to be good. After about 15 seconds, he made it over the top. Now it was our turn. I got a good run at the hill, and this time we made it. But we did slow down from 60km/hr to 15km/hr by the time we reached the top.

We made it home, safe and sound. A fun and exciting day !
